Tourism & Hospitality Focus: North Wales is a hub for outdoor adventure and tourism. Our EFAW course is ideal for hospitality teams in areas like Llandudno, Betws-y-Coed, Llanberis, and Snowdonia. Combine it with Outdoor First Aid or Forestry First Aid (+F) for a more comprehensive approach. We also offer standalone CPR and AED training for guest houses, hotels, and tourism providers. While all staff may not be first aiders, we recommend that the majority of staff working in tourism and hospitality have the skills to conduct CPR and know how to use an AED.
Why AED Training Matters: It’s difficult to pinpoint the exact number of AED (Automated External Defibrillator) uses in North Wales, but research indicates that they are not used as frequently as they could be in out-of-hospital cardiac arrests—even when readily available. For instance, one study found that in 1,302 cardiac arrests where an AED was within 500m, it was used in just 132 cases (10%) (BMJ, 2021). This underuse is often linked to a lack of public confidence. According to the Resuscitation Council UK, many bystanders are unsure how to recognise a cardiac arrest or operate an AED. Our training aims to bridge that gap—equipping your staff and community with the knowledge to act decisively and potentially save lives.
