Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). 1 in 4 people in the UK are likely to experience a mental health issue each year. It is of the upmost importance that workplaces are taking an active role in supporting the wellbeing of their staff. A Mental Health First Aider can help to facilitate this. To undertake this role, your employees need to undergo an approved Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course.

How do I become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA)?
To become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) you need to complete and approved MHFA course. A MHFA course is a comprehensive awareness and skills course. An MHFA course is delivered with a mix of presentations, discussions, group activities and questions and answers sessions. On successful completion of this important, but fun course, you’ll be a real asset to your organisation and colleagues alike. You’ll also learn some good life skills, which can be used in your family life.
Anyone can attend a MHFA course, but ideal candidates will have a good interest in mental health and wellbeing is highly desirable.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses available
Our MHFA courses are designed so that you don’t need prior knowledge of mental health to be successful in your role as a MHFA. Just like you don’t need a clinical or medical background to take one of our first aid courses. We’ll teach you everything you need to know on these MHFA courses.

- QA Level 2 Award in Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace (RQF).
- QA Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace.
Both courses are regulated and are qualifications are are recognised by Ofqual. (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) and Qualifications Wales. Both of our MHFA courses are delivered by a quality assured instructor who has completed a Qualsafe approved instructor programme.
QA Level 1 Introduction to Mental Health in the Workplace (RQF)

Raising awareness of poor Mental Health and breaking down stigma in the workplace. Promoting good mental health inside and outside of the workplace is essential. It is particularly important as we understand more about how poor mental health can negatively affect our relationships and resilience to overcome challenges at in work and everyday life. QA Level 2 Award in Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace (RQF)
£80 + VAT per person – 1 day course / Available as Virtual Learning (Online via Zoom) or Face to Face at our training centre. We can also deliver it at your workplace in person, or via virtual means. Please contact us for onsite learning of either format.
The objective of the qualification is to benefit the Learner by educating them in common mental health illnesses such as depression, stress and anxiety, eating disorders, self-harming and suicide.
The qualification includes how to listen to others and provide advice on where to signpost individuals to expert support to assist them in difficult times. The qualification will potentially assist with reducing stigma associated with mental health problems in the workplace.
This course will be suitable for those who are 16 and over who have an interest in mental health and would like to raise awareness and be able to listen and signpost work colleagues to a professional body that can provide support.
QA Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (RQF)
£150 + VAT per person – 2 day course / Available as Virtual Learning (Online via Zoom) or Face to Face at our training centre. We can also deliver it at your workplace in person, or via virtual means. Please contact us for onsite learning of either format.
The objective of this qualification is to benefit the Learner by educating them in common mental health problems. Instances include stress, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
The qualification includes how to actively listen and have a conversation. It provides suggestions by empowering the individual to make their own decisions on how to best provide assistance in difficult times. The learner will gain an understanding of laws that apply to the work place associated with mental health. In addition, the learner will know how to assist with making the work environment beneficial to both employer and employee.
This course is suitable for those over the age of 18, who have an interest in mental health first aid. These employees will have a desire to raise their awareness of mental health within the work environment and be able to actively listen and guide/support work colleagues. Although this qualification is ideal for those who are line managers or work in human resources departments, any member of staff should be able to attend this qualification.
